Scouting operates through volunteer leadership. Volunteer Cub Scout leaders are an example of Scouting’s principle of service to others. Naturally, parents are a primary source of leaders in the Scouting program. You volunteer not only to serve Scouting, but also to serve your child and his or her friends. Volunteering as a Scout leader gives you a chance to be a positive influence on the youth in your community.
